Frequently Asked Questions

What can I put in the bin?

You can put any waste in the skip bin, except waste prohibited by law. Prohibited items include asbestos (unless in a specific asbestos bin), tyres, batteries, liquids, chemicals, gas bottles or other prescribed or listed waste.

What is the cheapest bin type?

Different rates apply for our budget bin (concrete, brick, dirt and green waste), general rubbish bin or asbestos bin (check our rates here). It’s better for the environment to separate your waste, which is one of the reasons why you must only fill your bin with the prescribed waste.

What if I have asbestos?

As a general rule, houses pre 1980 are likely to contain some asbestos in the fibro cement sheeting found in the bathroom and eaves of the houses. We supply asbestos bins to our customers, however it’s the customer’s responsibility to double line the skip bin with 200um plastic before filling, then wrap and tape the plastic closed, before the driver collects the bin. We do not remove asbestos from buildings – we only hire skip bins and collect the waste.

Can I mix asbestos with general waste?

No, you cannot mix asbestos with general waste. We offer bins that are for asbestos only, as asbestos must be stored and disposed of separate from any other waste.

How much can I put in my bin?

Heavy Waste4 tonne4 tonne4 tonne10 tonne

For Workplace Health & Safety reasons, we are unable to carry unsafe loads, which means that your skip bins should not be filled any higher than the top rim. Your bin must also be safely stacked, so it can be tied down or tarped;  if the bin is overfilled, extra charges may apply.

What happens if I overload the bin?

Where possible, the driver will try to remove and transport the skip, however it may be necessary for the driver to remove the overloaded items, which will be left in a neat pile near the site of the bin. Extra charges may apply for this service.

How much notice do you need if I want to book a bin?

Same day delivery is often available, however it’s best to give us 48 hours’ notice, so that you can be assured that the right size skip bin is available.

When and how can I pay for the skip bin?

We prefer prepayment of skip bins, which is generally processed over the phone. We accept Eftpos (Visa/Mastercard), Cash on Delivery, Cheque or Direct Deposit.  Please contact the office and ask for our account details, if you would like to pay by Direct Debit.

Can I become an Account Holder?

If you intend to regularly hire our skip bins, please click on the link below for a Business Credit Account Application Form.  We then will review and consider your application.

What size bins have doors?

Loading skip bins with a wheelbarrow is made much easier when you have a door in the bin! Bin sizes 3m3, 6m3 and 10m3 have doors.

What are low sided bins used for?

Low sided skip bins make it easier to lift heavy waste, especially when you are manually lifting the waste into the skip.

How long can I keep the bin?

Bin hire is for 7-days, however if you want the skip collected before the 7 days is up, simply contact our office and we will come and collect it.  On the other hand, if you have not finished with the bin within the 7-day hire period, please contact us ASAP to arrange for extended hire, which will incur additional costs.

Can we get a bin delivered on a Saturday or Sunday?

We do not normally operate on weekends, however we may deliver and collect your skip bins on weekends, if you have made specific arrangements for this service with our office.

Does anybody need to be on site at the time of delivery?

No, there doesn’t need to be anyone on-site when we deliver your skip bin. We will ask your instructions at the time of the order and on the day, place the bin in an appropriate spot for your ease of access.

Please Note: Our trucks weigh up to 10 tonnes when they are loaded, so driving on grass can cause some damage, particularly if it’s been raining or the ground is muddy.  Please be assured that we will make every effort to minimise any damage. Should you have any concerns or special requirements, please ask the driver at the time of delivery.

Can I move a bin after it has been delivered?

Under NO circumstances is a bin to be moved. If the skip bin has been placed in the wrong spot, please call the office to request it to be moved to a more suitable location.

What happens if I have a dog?

Please ensure your pets are restrained at time of delivery and pickup, for everyone’s safety, including your dog.

Can you place the bin under my carport or in my garage?

No, we cannot risk the damage to your property.

How much access do you need?

The skip bin truck requires a minimum height clearance of 5 metres and a width access of 2.6 metres.

Can you lift the bin over the fence?

Yes, we can lift the bin over a maximum fence height of 1.2 meters.

Can we put the bin on the nature strip?

Generally yes, however we cannot block pedestrian access.  Skip bins will not be placed on Council concrete footpaths without a permit.

Can we put the bin on the road?

Not unless you obtain a Council permit.

What if I’m outside the service area?

Please get in touch with our team to discuss areas outside our delivery radius (refer to our map).
